I like the What are you Reading Mondays because it keeps me focused on what I am reading and forces me to post reviews during the week... and I wrap up my polls that day. Teaser Tuesdays, WoW and Friday finds are fun and the "easy" posts.

To put it this way - I'm too busy lately to finish a book a day or sometimes even more than one a week and I really like to have something posted each day. During the week it's nice and easy and then on weekends I do my blogger interviews and catch up on my review posts. Because during the week - I leave the house at 6 am and don't get home until at least 6 pm most days. So, I do my blogging on the weekends for the most part.

Yes, it's filler and I've been horrid at commenting on a lot of the memes on other blogs, but it's kind of fun too.

To each their own though. :)Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11089936646594784828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234171891467425827.post-25874289001336429212009-10-08T09:39:41.080-07:002009-10-08T09:39:41.080-07:00I tried doing a meme or 2 when I first started but...I tried doing a meme or 2 when I first started but I discovered I really don't like doing them on my blog. It doesn't bother me much when others do but I prefer to not do them and just do contests, reviews and bits of odds and ends.Froggyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01213261526305818649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234171891467425827.post-54689465516092383702009-10-08T06:17:12.035-07:002009-10-08T06:17:12.035-07:00I understand where you are coming from, Dannie.
...I understand where you are coming from, Dannie.
I have a few memes that I participate in, although it's not every week.

I do like Teaser Tuesdays because 1) it allows me to scour for books I would like to read and 2) it gives a little extra "boost" and publicity to the book I am currently reading.

But between my "regular" full-time job and the books I'm trying to read, I simply cannot participate in all the memes that make the rounds. So I try to be selective about what I do choose to participate in.

I have also done my own little things, here and there - - with "Cover to Cover" (discussing good and bad book covers) and "From Page to Screen" (comparing books to their film counterparts).Lori Johnstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11916838797379853699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234171891467425827.post-54434867808063235672009-10-08T05:05:33.557-07:002009-10-08T05:05:33.557-07:00I do some memes, like In My Mailbox and Waiting On...I do some memes, like In My Mailbox and Waiting On Wednesday. I think they're fun, as long as you do reviews too. They allow me to be a bit chattier than I would usually be in a review.

I actually really like reading other people's memes, and I find a lot of new (to me) really interesting blogs via the Mr Linkys. But once I've found a blog, I'll probably keep coming back for the reviews.

Giveaways... I can't enter most of them so I probably would skim that post, unless it's part of a review.Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06483030255023873716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234171891467425827.post-80410589927278516772009-10-07T18:41:37.132-07:002009-10-07T18:41:37.132-07:00I agree, there are a lot of that going on, but for...I agree, there are a lot of that going on, but for me, if people didnt do those I wouldnt know about a lot of new books or wouldnt be interested in them. I only participate in, um, one of those meme thingies - In My Mailbox but I call it Added to the Pile since most of my stuff comes via my own bank account and my local bookstore.

What really irks me are the book promotions things where 50 millions blogs are giving away the same damn book all at the same time. I do contest wrap-ups every week and there have been times where I'd have 5 blogs giving away the same number of the same books in a single week. Isn't that a bit of an overload? I'm doing that now for a book I love but the contest is staggered with the start dates. Obviously some publicists get that overkill is a bad thing.

I do my own meme-things. Freaky Friday, 80s Awesomeness!, Things I've Learned from Books. Personally I think they stand out amonst the dozens of Mailbox Mondays and Wishlist Wednesdays.Donna (Bites)https://www.blogger.com/profile/12585421704517898076noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1234171891467425827.post-86148069337413102942009-10-07T17:32:53.130-07:002009-10-07T17:32:53.130-07:00I've noticed on my own blog from time to time ...I've noticed on my own blog from time to time that I've gotten a bit heavy on memes. They are fun, but I started simply not posting some days if I don't have a review ready, instead of memes. But after doing it for a little while, I am bored with it. And last week was probably the last week I will personally be doing them. I might do one every so often if I find something really clever, but I am trying to focus a lot more on doing reviews.

I think the reason some people do it is because either it is filler, or something to break up all the reviews. You know add in a little something different.
